Implant Supported Denture – Why You Should Go For It!

If you already have dentures, you are no stranger to some of the daily pains that come with wearing them. Nothing is more attractive than taking out your teeth before bed, am I right? Unfortunately that is just one of the nuisances you may experience while wearing dentures. Dentures can also slip and slide in your mouth making it hard to eat and speak. No one wants to live in fear that their dentures are going to go flying out of their mouth while talking to friends or sharing a meal with family. Also if your speech is altered, it may be more obvious you are wearing dentures. What is the point of having dentures if you aren’t able to continue about your daily life as if they were your real teeth? I don’t know about you but the last time I checked, you don’t have to take your real teeth out to soak or pick them up off the dinner table during conversation. I also like to enjoy corn on the cob or a caramel apple from time to time…that isn’t a possibility with traditional dentures.

Implant supported dentures are an amazing way to give you a confident, functional and natural looking smile. An implant denture is fixed on four or more implants placed in the jaw bone. While traditional dentures are removable and sit on top of the bone. The implant denture will be fixed in your mouth and will not need to be removed except by your dentist for cleanings and checkups. You clean an implant denture just like you would brush your natural teeth. So you aren’t taking it out and doing the ol’ scrub and soak! An implant denture won’t be moving around in your mouth when you chew or speak either. So you can avoid that embarrassment and discomfort.

An implant supported denture is going to be more comfortable as well. As stated before, the implants are in the bone holding the denture in place. This not only stabilizes the denture so it is not moving around and causing sore spots on your gums like traditional dentures but it is also stimulating the bone. Without that stimulation, the bone will shrink. Since traditional dentures rest atop the bone, there is nothing holding them in so the bone begins to shrink leading to frequent denture refittings and changes in the shape of your mouth.

You shouldn’t have to think about your teeth every second of the day. An implant supported denture can be a real game changer. You can live each day to the fullest, in comfort and confidence. An implant denture will make your life more enjoyable and bonus: You can go get that caramel apple!
